Ambitionz is a health and fitness centre in North Rockhampton, QLD.
In the first half of 2009, under Jeremy Dawes' banner at Jezweb, I worked with Ambitionz to create a simple but effective website showcasing their services and facilities.
My client required a very low-level of editability, so I used SnippetMaster on the specials page. SnippetMaster allows a client to login to a web service and make changes to the text on specified pages, but it's not as bulky as full-blown content management systems like wordpress. A couple of the main deciding factors when considering a small system like SnippetMaster include:
If my client had wanted to be able to add and remove pages, rather than just edit the text on existing ones, I might have suggested a different system, but for such a small site and such a small amount of editability required, SnippetMaster was really the simplest and most effective option around.
On the front end of this site, things were kept very simple. A colleague came up with the draft for what the site was going to look like, which I then elaborated on to better suit the client's needs. The text needed to dominate this design, so where possible we stuck to neutral shades for the layout.
I also included a conact form and a google map on the contact page, to encourage a bit of interaction from the visitors. It's always important to have some indication of how well your website is working for you, and apart from visitor statistics, a contact form is a great way to get feedback and general enquiries from your customers. I encourage having a contact form even on websites such as this where there is no eCommerce or email based service, as it's a great way to keep in touch with your visitors.
